Sketches

Based on my own experiences and familiarity of National City, I was able to develop various sketches of objects, buildings, animals that represent my neighborhood. Sort of icons, wanted to implement them as a way to represent what makes the South Bay into this piece.

Preliminary Brochure Sample

At first, I wanted to make a poster but found inspiration to make a brochure that actually turns into a poster. I use a Broadside Reveal Brochure fold that features a asymmetrical fold but also display a horizontal reveal feature that gives you a sneak peak of what's inside.
Preliminary Poster Stage

In the beginning stage wanted to use typography in a sort of dynamic style with my art to introduce information of National City such as top visits, fun facts, contact info, and additional text. However along the way decided to treat my information in separate areas but let my art slightly overlap with the boundaries of where the fold would be applied.
It took various inputs, moving individual pieces and guidance as I combine my artworks, text, and elements throughout the period of making this piece. Revision after revision, had to make many decisions along the way which brought me to an conclusion.
